*Shelter Manager

Appleseed Community Mental Health Center's Safe Haven program is seeking to fill a full-time Shelter Manager position for the Safe Haven Domestic Violence Shelter.  Working under the direction of the Program Director, this position is responsible for developing, managing, and monitoring all shelter operations and facilities upkeep consistent with policies and procedures. Knowledge and experience with domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking crisis issues a must. Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred but will consider associates degree or high school diploma with extensive shelter experience. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing, managing, and monitoring all shelter operations and facilities upkeep consistent with policies and procedures
  • Schedules and provides supervision of all residential staff
  • Maintains overall responsibility for the safety and security of residential staff, clients, and facilities
  • Provides intake assessments and emergency crisis intervention services to survivors of domestic violence, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and stalking at the hospital, in shelter, or by phone
  • Assists director with grant report narratives regarding shelter successes and obstacles, as needed
  • This position is on-call 24/7. On-call stipend provided.
  • Performs other duties, as determined appropriate by Director and/or agency

Requirements

  • To work in a non-judgmental manner with individuals of all races, ages, and economic levels who are in crisis situations
  • Must have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to multi-task; strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead people and manage and resolve conflicts
  • Knowledge of violence against women, stalking, intimate partner, and/or sexual violence issues, and emotional wellness would be beneficial
  • Requires an understanding of victim services, crisis intervention, and trauma informed care
  • Good verbal and written communication, computer skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred but will consider Associates degree or high school diploma with extensive shelter experience
  • Must have a car available during working hours, carry and maintain automobile insurance that includes a payable liability of $100,000/$300,000, as well as the ability to legally drive a car
  • Must pass background check, drug test, and driving record check
