Community LPN

Appleseed Community Mental Health Center has an immediate opening for a full-time Community LPN. This position performs both clinical and administrative duties while providing support to patients and medical staff both in the office and out in the community. Responsibilities include verification of patient information; recording medical history; taking vitals; administering medication; and instructing patients about their medication. This position will also assist nursing staff with clerical needs such as answering telephones; scheduling appointments; greeting and assisting patients in the waiting room; updating electronic health records; billing, coding, and filling out insurance forms; and arranging for laboratory services. Standard work hours are M-F 8:30AM – 5:00PM. Must be computer literate, familiar with Excel and Microsoft Word, and detail-oriented. Candidates must be personable with excellent communication skills, able to juggle multiple tasks, aware of the ethical and legal rights of persons served and staff, and the ability to organize projects quickly and effectively.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Registered/Practical Nurse issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing Education and Nurse Registration as outlined in sections 4723.01 to 4723.40 inclusive of the Ohio Revised Code.
  • Must also be certified to administer medications from one of the following: the National Association of Practical Nurse Education and Service, Inc. (NAPNES), the Ohio Organization of Practical Nurse Educators (OOPNE), or the Ohio Board of Nursing.
    • This position will be responsible for “Med Day” and providing medications and injections in the office each week
  • Skilled with using medical equipment (blood pressure cuff, hazardous waste cleanup, hypodermics etc.).
  • Willingness to work within the community providing medical education in client homes
  • Able to express self verbally and in written words.
  • Able to operate basic office equipment, phones, faxes, copier, etc.
  • Clean driving record
