Candace Ressler.png

Candace Ressler, LPCC, LPAT, ATR-BC

Client Focus: Youth | Adults

Candace Ressler is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Professional Art Therapist (LPAT), and Board-Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC)—one of the few art therapists in this region. She earned dual master’s degrees in Counseling and Art Therapy from Ursuline College in 2021 and has been providing counseling at Appleseed since then.

​

Candace uses a person-centered approach and incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Solution-Focused strategies. She believes that art can offer a powerful path for clients to explore emotions, transform experiences into imagery, and express what may be difficult to put into words. Candace provides counseling for children, teens, and adults, and she particularly enjoys facilitating art-based processing groups rooted in intuitive expression and symbolism. Candace states “Creativity can reveal strengths, promote insight, and support healing through the art-making process.”

Outside of counseling, Candace enjoys watercolor painting, art journaling, reading, and spending time with her husband, two sons, and Bernese Mountain Dog.

Carter Haskins.png

Carter Young Haskins, LPCC

Client Focus: Adults

Carter Haskins is an experienced mental health counselor who provides individual and group counseling for adults, as well as crisis support for both adults and children. He uses a client-centered approach and incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and other trauma-informed approaches, including substance use disorder interventions and crisis counseling strategies.

​

Carter has extensive experience supporting individuals in acute distress and has worked closely with adults in jail-based and community settings. His background in crisis response and co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns informs his ability to help clients stabilize, build coping tools, and move forward with safety and support.

​

Carter is currently working toward his LICDC-III to further expand his substance use treatment credentials.

Christine S. Myers, MA, LPCC

Client Focus: Adults

Christine Myers began her work with Appleseed in 2017 as a counselor trainee and earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary in 2018. She provides counseling for adults, focusing on healing, personal growth, and mental wellness.

​

Christine’s counseling style is individualized and integrates person-centered, solution-focused, and existential approaches. She works collaboratively with clients to address their concerns while helping them explore meaning, purpose, and balance in their lives. As a lifelong Ashland County resident, Christine is deeply committed to serving her community and supporting individuals as they move toward healthier, more fulfilling paths.

Deborah Lyon, LPCC

Client Focus: Teens | Adults | Couples

Deborah Lyon is a seasoned Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) with a long-standing background in both mental health counseling and substance use treatment. She provides individual, couples, and group counseling for adults and older teens. Deborah specializes in trauma-focused counseling and incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) into her work.

​

Deborah’s philosophy centers on treating the whole person—emotional, physical, social, and spiritual. She believes that times of crisis and pain can also be opportunities for growth, and she deeply respects the courage it takes to reach out for help. Deborah is committed to offering a compassionate, grounded space where clients can work toward healing, insight, and meaningful change.

James Figley, LPCC

Client Focus: Adults | Marriage Counseling

James Figley is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) who approaches counseling with unconditional positive regard and a strong commitment to trauma-informed care. James views treatment through a systems theory lens, helping clients understand how their experiences, environments, and relationships shape their well-being.

James works primarily with adults and supports individuals navigating a wide range of mental health concerns. In addition to individual counseling, he also provides marriage counseling for couples seeking to strengthen communication, deepen understanding, and build healthier patterns together.

​

James incorporates music and time in nature into his own well-being practices, and he brings that same sense of presence and authenticity into his work with clients. His philosophy is grounded in a well-known Carl Rogers quote: “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” James strives to help clients find this balance of acceptance and growth within themselves.

Jeremy Smith, LPCC-S

Client Focus: Youth | Adults

Jeremy Smith is an experienced Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Supervisor. He uses a person-centered approach and incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Family Systems strategies. For clients who desire it, Jeremy can also integrate Christian-faith perspectives into the counseling process.

Jeremy provides counseling for adults and youth and has extensive experience supporting individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns. He also works with domestic violence survivors and offenders, and individuals with developmental disabilities. Jeremy’s background in working with people connected to the juvenile court system and the jail system informs his ability to support clients facing similar challenges in their lives.

Kayla Crew

Client Focus: Youth | Adults

Kayla Crew is an experienced mental health counselor who works with children, teens, adults, and families. She uses a person-centered and narrative approach and incorporates the Integrated Family and Systems Treatment (IFAST) model, Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Kayla is EMDR-certified and continues to deepen her trauma-informed practice through ongoing training.

​

Kayla offers EMDR for adults processing trauma, provides outpatient counseling for youth experiencing anxiety and depression, and works intensively with families in home-based services. She believes in meeting people where they are and working together to help them rewrite their stories in ways that supports a happier and more fulfilling life.

​

Outside of counseling, Kayla is a wife, mother of three, and a proud Harry Potter fan.

Madyson Ringer, MSW, LSW

Madyson Ringer is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) who provides counseling for teens, young adults, and other clients seeking healing and growth. She provides counseling for teens, young adults, and other clients seeking healing and growth. Madyson uses a person-centered, trauma-informed approach to create a supportive environment where clients can safely explore their experiences and emotions.

She frequently incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients better understand their thoughts, feelings, and how their experiences shape their lives. Madyson is particularly passionate about helping individuals find freedom from anxiety, depression, and trauma, and she welcomes anyone interested in working toward meaningful change.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, exercising, cooking, and spending time with her family and pets.

Niles Nall, LPCC

Niles Nall is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) that provides counseling for teens (ages 12+) and adults. Rooted in a person-centered approach, Niles incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and strengths-based strategies to create individualized, collaborative care.

Niles specializes in working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, and trauma. He is also pursuing additional training to better support individuals on the autism spectrum. In his counseling work, Niles emphasizes patience and perspective, helping clients break larger challenges into manageable steps so they can eventually see the broader “mosaic” of progress and growth they have created over time.

Outside of counseling, Niles enjoys sports, videogames, anime, and spending time with his dogs.

Todd Yordy, LPCC-S

Client Focus: Adults | Couples

Todd Yordy is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervisory designation (LPCC-S). He has a long-standing background in counseling and social work across healthcare and community settings and now provides counseling for adults and couples.

Todd is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and strongly values the Trauma-Informed Care model. He specializes in working with anxiety and mood disorders and has extensive experience supporting individuals through a wide range of life challenges. Todd’s approach is grounded in the belief that understanding what has happened to us—rather than focusing solely on “what’s wrong with us”—can illuminate the choices we make and guide the path toward healing.

Outside of counseling, Todd enjoys being in nature, especially hiking and fishing.
