Addiction Pharmacology CEU Training

Summary:  This workshop will be an information workshop for clinicians in the field to better understand the physiological and psychological effects of various drugs of abuse.   Withdrawal, medications to manage withdrawal, and medication assisted treatment will be explored.  Participants will use case studies to practice intoxication and/or withdrawal identification. 

Goals

  1. Participants will be able to summarize the various drugs of abuse used, focusing on their effects on the body, and addiction potential.
  2. Participants will be able to explore how the brain becomes dependent on substances.
  3. Participants will be able to identify intoxication and withdrawal signs/ symptoms and be familiar with withdrawal management techniques.
  4. Participants will be able to explain how MAT and harm reduction can be used to assist with dependency issues.
